Bright career prospects
Living in Adelaide, and the experience
Supriya Panjwani is gaining in her
study at the University of South
Australia, have given her a new way
of looking at the world.
Supriya completed a Bachelor of Science
majoring in physics in Surat. Now studying
her Master of Teaching at the University
of South Australia, Supriya will be able to
combine her scientifi c knowledge with
her love of teaching.
‘It was my passion since childhood. I did
teaching in my hometown for a couple
of months before coming here and was
pretty sure I could handle this profession.’
As a part of her study, Supriya has
been into the classroom, putting theory
into practice, and learning from the
experience. She did a one month
placement at an Adelaide High
School observing teaching methods
and taking classes.
‘If I don’t go and teach I won’t be able to
teach when I complete my degree. I have
to experience what it’s like to teach so that
if I have to, I can change my teaching style.
‘My Master degree is very practical, rather
than theoretical. If you don’t implement
theoretical knowledge into practice, it
doesn’t make sense.’
Supriya says that the support she has
received at UniSA has been excellent.
She has received assistance through the
University of South Australia’s Learning
Connection, which provides academic and
personal support to international students. She also credits her teaching staff with
giving her a new outlook.
‘They encourage students to do something
innovative, so it’s all about creativity. I’ve
learned to be creative at the University of
South Australia.’
Whether she goes straight into teaching, or
on to further study, Supriya feels that she’s
well prepared for wherever life takes her.
‘At first, I was very scared of coming
here but I’ve learned to be independent.
I’ll definitely have a bright career in
whatever field I pursue from here.’
